Saturday a few of us walked in Bois De Liesse and this time we actually kept to the walking trails which turned out to be quite pleasant, but where to go Sunday morning. Well strange as it may sound, I have lived on the West Island for over twenty years and I had never been on the trails at Bois de Ile Bizard so I talked our little gang to give it a try. The first problem was where to park , I identified a parking lot, emailed a map to people and posted a note on the forum. I even went on Google street view and there it was as clear as a pike staff a parking sign at the start of the trail. Strange only Linda and I found it, soon phone messages came “Where is the parking lot?” Sharon drove completely passed it and finished up in an alternate start, realised that hers was the only car and retraced her path to find us. Happily everyone arrived safely, mainly due to the fact I threw myself in front of their cars as they sped past. Anyhow we set off, as you will recall Sunday was a winters day in spring ( wind chills in the teens) still the sun did shine and the walking was good. No getting lost now , this park has more directions signs than needles on a hedgehog. The high light of the walk was spotting an owl sat on a branch near the path, truth be known a walker pointed it out to us and told us it was a barred owl, or hoot owl, bet you did not know that… The rest of the walk was very enjoyable, passing over the walkway at La passerelle and completing 9 km in total. A fine morning walk followed by breakfast. This will make a good early season walk for our club next fall.
